For grown-ups

How this works, plainly

This site is aimed at children, so it is built to a stricter standard than a normal site. Here is exactly what happens.

Accounts for under-13s

If a child tells us they're under 13, we ask for a parent or guardian's email address and the account does nothing until you approve it. Until then they cannot sign in, cannot comment, and receive no email from us.

You get an email explaining what an account does and what we store, with an approve button and a refuse button. If you refuse, the account and everything in it is deleted immediately. If you do nothing, the link expires after 7 days.

When you approve, we email you a permanent link. Use it any time to see everything your child has written, pause the account, or delete it and all its data.

What we store about a child

  • A first name or nickname — whatever they type
  • Their email address
  • The year they were born (not a full date of birth)
  • Your email address
  • Any comment they write

That is the whole list. No home address, no phone number, no school, no location, no date of birth, no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Technically: passwords are stored as Argon2id hashes and are never recoverable. Email links are stored as SHA-256 hashes, so a copy of our database cannot be used to log in as anyone. Children's accounts get no public profile page and no bio field.

Comments are checked before anyone sees them

Nothing a user writes appears on the site until a person has read it. A child sees their own comment marked “waiting to be checked”; nobody else can see it at all until it is approved.

There are no direct messages, no private chat, and no way for one user to contact another through this site.

Email

The newsletter is double opt-in: we send one email asking you to confirm, and if you don't click it we never email that address again. Every newsletter has a working unsubscribe link.

If a child follows the site and asks for update emails, those go to your inbox, not theirs.

How to reach a person

To see, correct or delete anything we hold about your child, email fun@projectsxgwen.com. You do not need an account to make that request, and we will action it without asking why.
